Honeybee venom cures cancer

Millions spent on cancer research and all they needed was a honeybee? Is this why there has been an increased threat to honeybee colonies by sudden rare wasps and hornets?

Honeybee venom, specifically its main component melittin, has shown potential in killing cancer cells in lab studies. Melittin, a peptide in bee venom, can disrupt cancer cell membranes, leading to cell death. Research from sources like the Harry Perkins Institute (2020) found that melittin rapidly killed breast cancer cells, including aggressive types like triple-negative breast cancer, by interfering with signaling pathways that cancer cells rely on. It creates pores in the cell membrane, causing the cells to break down.
