Personal Brand Logo 2.0
Hello guys! Here I go again.. A few months before I posted about a logo design for my personal brand “María Gómez”. That logo had multiple mistakes specifically because of legibility. I learnt A LOT from your comments since I’m not a trained graphic designer but a concept artist/book illustrator. I hope you could help me again with this piece giving me feedback. This time I’ll provide further information so you could understand better my decisions and my goal with this logo.
FIRST of all, I know about the quality of the image, it is a preview and I’ll ensure better quality when it is finished.
MY GOAL: Provide a better impression for recruiters and clients in the animation industry. I’m looking for a creative yet “formal” logo design that works for website and printable projects as visit cards (e.g.) Also I’m looking for small graphic details that I can subtract from the main logo and make it work as favicon for my website.
MY DECISIONS: I’ve tried explaining them in the image but I think I can elaborate more about them. I chose “Pearl Jean” as the main font since I found it kinda cartoon-ish yet not too crazy, and “Futura Black” for the subtitle. First thing I did was trying to give it more structure placing the name and surname one above the other, doing this I had to re-shape the punctuation symbol from “ó” but later I found it quite confusing since it could be misread as “ō” (change made in the “Final” version) Also I thought elongating the “R” strike would make it look more cohesive as a unity and not two words apart form each other. Then I wanted to morph a character into something representative of my work and chose the character “i” since it naturally felt like could be a good pencil xD First it was too detailed with the stripes but later I simplified it more. I also tried making the “ó” into an eraser but it messed the legibility and I discharged the option. At the end I added an accent color concept of my “Final” version but I’m not very confident about it yet.
I hope you could help me refine this a bit with your feedback. I’ll try to answer all your questions and messages!
